Mikkeli Art Museum was opened in 1970., It is located in the city center, just opposite the cathedral, in the Granite House, designed by Armas and Rankka in 1912gg.

Three times in the history of the museum changed its name, the last of which - Art Museum - it was only in 1981.

The permanent exhibition includes paintings Finnish 1870hgg - 1980s. Most of the works belong to the Post-Impressionists.

The museum displays sculptures from the collection of Johannes Haapasalo, as well as furniture, oriental rugs and fine art objects.
