At first this place a fortress built by the Romans. Its ruins were used to build a new castle in 1289, which was also destroyed. In the middle of the XV century on the foundations of the old structures of the newly built fortress, which in 100 years has strengthened the corsair Dragut. In 1560, the year the Spaniards unsuccessfully precipitated strengthening within three months. From the skulls of the slain Spaniards inside the fortress was built the imposing pyramid - the skull tower. It destroyed in 1848, and in its place erected a memorial sign.

In the courtyard of the fortress is kubba Gazi Mustafa, which employs a small exhibition of ceramics.
