One of the attractions of the city of Lutsk is the Holy Cross Church, located on the territory of historical and cultural preserve "Old Lutsk" at street D. Galitsky, 2.

In the XVII century. the temple was part of the architectural ensemble of structures of the brotherhood of Holy Cross, which also included the monastery buildings, schools and hospitals. The founders of Volyn Lutsk fraternity became nobles, among whom was the founder of the Kiev brotherhood Galshka Gulevichevna. For donations of well-known Ukrainian patron and was built in 1619-1622 gg. the main church of the brotherhood, which has a pronounced defensive character. The building is a classic example of wooden trehsrubnogo three-headed temple showing the transition of wooden architecture of the stone. Three domes of the Church stressed the threefold axial composition of the temple. Outside, the porch had a form of tower defense with a staircase that led to the roof.

In 1803 the church was damaged by fire. A year later, the monastery was dismantled before the altar area, and its remains were sold as construction. In 1888 this place was set up a chapel, and by 1890 - fully rebuilt and the church itself, which included surviving ancient apse with frieze preserved reinforcing the XVII century. keeled with niches typical of the architecture of the time of Volyn. As a result of fires and reconstructions, this architectural monument is significantly altered his appearance. Now the building stone, has a rectangular shape, with the entrance on the west and a semicircular apse in the east. The church reinforce two buttress. The central part of the church is crowned with brick dome, which rests on the arches over the five internal bays. The outer wall of the apse is decorated with a frieze of niches keeled.

Today, Holy Cross Church belongs to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church Kiev Patriarchate.
