Near the river Lusatian Nisa Liberec in the vicinity you can see the rock on which stands the austere castle built in Renaissance style, is more like a powerful stronghold than the palace complex.
It is located in a very convenient location for tourists: on the border of three countries, so it is possible to include a visit, while on vacation in the Czech Republic, Germany and Poland. From the fortified walls of the castle offers spectacular views of the land of the three countries. This is a unique opportunity to take a picture with a height of just three states.
According to the records, which historians have found in local archives, the castle in the XIII century decorated a mountain near Liberec. Its first owner was a noble Saxon kind of Don. When it was built not only the main residential and commercial buildings, but also high tower, which served to observe the surroundings. Tower during its existence, has undergone significant changes, so it is now slightly lower than initially thought.
Among the owners of the castle should be careful to note George Strelika Mechelen, who built a room for servants, and Christian Clam-Gallas, pitched around a beautiful castle garden.
Family Clam-Gallas owned Grabštejn castle until 1945, when the Czech government confiscated any relevant property. Today the castle restored and open to the public. Of particular interest is a visit to the chapel of St. Barbara, decorated with frescoes in the style of the Renaissance, and the cellars of the fortress, which begins a secret passage, as well as demonstrate tools artisans.
