In the district of Liberec called Rochlitz you can find a small but very representative church of St. John the Baptist. The church looks very old, mainly due to lack of maintenance. Crumbling plaster, streaks of rain on the facade contrasts sharply with the surrounding area landscaped. Around the temple are planted young trees, which cast a shadow over the many shops, where anyone can sit back and think about eternity, listening to the ringing of bells at the church of St. John the Baptist.
Until 1657 the temple dedicated to St. John, was made of wood. Numerous fire, lightning, torrential rains have contributed to the fact that the people of Liberec realized that the future of the stone buildings. Therefore, in the middle of XVII century wooden church was demolished and in its place built a new - made of durable stone, which had been uneasy storms, rain and hot sun.
In 1678 the church received a new tower, which was kept for three bells. They proclaimed their bells every hour.
At the beginning of the XVIII century, the church began to update. I was completely replaced the interior. The church installed a new altar, striking its magnificence, and artfully decorated chair.
In 1746, a local rich man Appelt was looking for a place to soothe their future. He liked the privacy of the church of St. John the Baptist, so he sponsored the construction of the chapel with the proviso that it immediately buried.
In 1800 there was a big fire, after which had to completely rebuild and renovate the interior of the tower again.
Currently, the temple is a working church, where several Catholic Mass.
