Volkov House Museum - an old wooden merchant's house, which was built over the years: from 1826 to 1905 in the center of Lappeenranta, near the town hall.
Initially, the owner of the building was a rich merchant Klaudelin, then in 1872 the house passed to the ownership of Russian merchant, a former serf - Ivan Volkov, who became the ancestor four generations trading dynasty. His descendants in 1983, gave the famous home town, and in 1993 it opened a museum that tells about the life of a merchant's time and keep the Orthodox tradition.
The interior of the house-museum contains unique household and antiques and decorations. Inspection of the building begins with a visit to the women's bedrooms and bathrooms, and then passed through the living room, study and dining room, you will find yourself in the other bedroom, next to the children's room and get into the kitchen.
In the museum area there is a small bakery, which is still in the classic recipes of baked traditional Russian bread. The restaurant "Volkoff", opened in 1998, first-class chefs will prepare for you a delicious lunch.
In a small shop, located in the museum, you can buy souvenirs razliyanye and gifts for your friends and family, especially on the eve of Easter and Christmas. These days the area of the museum becomes a place of holiday festivals.
House-Museum is open daily, but only in summer.
