Steinbach am Attersee - city located on the eastern shore of Lake Attersee in the Province of Upper Austria, is part of the county Vöcklabruck. Steinbach is situated at an altitude of 509 meters above sea level. The emblem of Steinbach am Attersee depicts a golden eagle with a red tongue on a blue background.

Steinbach was inhabited by the Celts in pre-Christian times. The first documented mention of the area belongs to 1276 and tells the story of the construction of the church.

Steinbach am Attersee stands on the banks of the picturesque lake, where during the summer are held a variety of excursions, organized by the equipped beach for recreation. In addition to the natural attractions of note is the church of St. Andreas, which stands on a hill. There were found during excavations of the statue of the pagan gods. The exact date of construction of the church is not known, however, the documents indicate the year 1410-1420.

In Steinbach at the lake is a small house of white stone, where the famous pianist Gustav Mahler in the years 1893-1896 wrote a symphony №2 and №3. The house was renovated in 1983 and is now located in a small exhibition devoted to the composer.
