Krasnoyarsk Regional Museum - one of the oldest and largest museums in Siberia. The exhibition area of ​​the museum up to 3, 5 thousand square meters.

The museum is housed in a building erected in 1914. The author of the project was well-known architect and artist Krasnoyarsk L.A.Chernyshev. The museum building is made in the architectural style of "modern" and a stylized ancient Egyptian temple. His project L.A.Chernyshev offered as a gift to his hometown. Currently, the museum building is considered an architectural monument of regional significance of the first half of the twentieth century.

Krasnoyarsk Regional Museum was founded in February 1889 on the initiative of representatives of the local public intellectuals - YP and IA Matveyev. In October 1903 the museum passed subdivision Krasnoyarsk East Siberian department of the Imperial Russian Geographical Society. When, in 1920, the museum was transferred to the People's Committee of Education. Then the name of the institution changed to "The State Museum of the Yenisei region." In 1935, the museum received its present name - the Krasnoyarsk Regional Museum.

The museum collection reflects the history of the region from ancient times to the present day. Particularly valuable are the archaeological, paleontological collections and scientific collections that have world significance.
