Krasnoyarsk State Opera and Ballet Theatre is the only musical theater, which was opened in the Urals over the past three decades. It is located at Theater Square.

Theater building was built in 1966-1978 gg. The author of the project was the winner of the State Prize of the USSR architect I. Mikhalev. Officially, the theater opened in August 1978, which was timed to the 350th anniversary of Krasnoyarsk. Especially for its builders then was staged opera "Prince Igor" AP Borodin. Beginning of the first season of the creative to the public took place in December 1978

In the Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre hosted the premiere of the operas: "Woe from Wit" (1985), "Hamlet" (1993); ballets: "The Odyssey" (1983), "White Deer" (1987); Musical: "Under the first star" (2000). On stage the audience was presented with a rock ballet "Jesus Christ - Superstar" E. Webber (1989), the opera "Don Procopio 'Bizet (1983). Krasnoyarsk Theatre has completed more than 80 amazing opera and ballet productions.

In 1986 the theater became the international festival of opera named after P. Slovtsov and singing competition called "Young Voices". In addition, the theater was one of the founders of the International muzfestivalya Asia-Pacific region.

The theater's repertoire is represented almost the entire opera and ballet classics. The main pride, besides performances, time-tested, are productions of recent years, including the opera "Eugene Onegin," "Madame Butterfly", "Queen of Spades", ballets "Infanta and Jester," "Spartacus", the new version of the ballet "Vain Precaution" "The Nutcracker" and "Annie."

Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre is one of the favorite places of cultural activities, not only locals but also tourists. He is also a center of creative meetings of famous artists of different Russian cities and foreign countries.
