Local historians and researchers from all over the Russian attracted forests of Karelia, concealing many monuments of the history of our country. One is located near the village of Konchezero, located on the shores of the lake. The history of the village, as the history of the city of Petrozavodsk, originates from one of the four tabs government Olonets plants, which were built in the 18th century by order of Peter I. The need for construction of factories was caused by the conduct of the Northern War, increased weapons and maintenance of the developing Baltic Naval fleet. Many developed mines around the village Konchezero - traces of metallurgical activity at the time.
Led by melting master Martin Wolf Zimmerman, who came from Saxony in the group of experts on mining in 1706 (according to other sources - in 1707), the construction of the plant Konchezero. By 1708 it was completed. Initially the plant was conceived only as a copper smelting, copper ore was delivered to him from the north end of Pertozero. However, almost immediately after the introduction of the plant began to melt and cast iron, and iron.
The development of multiple ore located in the district. Some fields, including mine, "Hope", located in the rock mass about 600 meters from Pertozero, preserved to this day. But, unfortunately, due to poor preservation and present danger of collapse, a visit to the monument industry difficult. Extraction of copper ore here lasted until 1754, the mine "Hope" was considered the main supply for the plant. On Ukshezero was mined iron ore: on the water, with rafts, using long poles fixed to the ladle. There are other fields, bearing picturesque names: "Russian eagle", "Happiness is God", "God's building."
Ore production was thoroughly organized and progressive for its time. In fields built laboratory obivalni, forge, pumping huts. Soon, due to the influx of workers around the plant it arises settlement, which served as a further basis for the formation of the village Konchezero.
Konchezero smelter building was a wooden building of impressive dimensions. For 1719 as a part of the enterprise are the following facilities: two copper smelting furnaces, Molotov workshop, the dam on the river Vikshe, blast furnace for iron smelting and others. As the motor forces used water pressure Pertozero (so far remained only remnants of the tunnel, waterfall).
With the end of the Northern War, the need for products Olovetskih state factories declined, production began to decline, and the company gradually fell into disrepair. In the summer of 1730 Wolf Zimmerman it was re-directed to Konchezero plant as deputy chief, Peter I requested to prepare for the launch of the plant has been idle. In 1753, the plant switched to production of pig iron for the Alexandrovsky plant in 1754th cease smelting of copper, as in the Petrovskaya Sloboda was built a copper smelter. Thus, Konchezero plant in 1774 transferred to the jurisdiction of the Alexandrovsky plant, located in Petrozavodsk.
In 1793, as a result of a strong fire almost completely burnt down the original wooden buildings of the enterprise, and in their place were built blast furnace shop of stone, and in the early 19th century, two extensions of the molded brick offices. Prior to the beginning of the next century Konchezero plant continued to operate, the main products are cast iron ingots, delivered to the factory Alexander. However, despite the high demand of iron Olonets province, the plant remained unprofitable and in 1905 was finally closed.
In Soviet times, the remains of the factory buildings, transformed into a single building, used as a workshop as part of the farm "Konchezero", perhaps because of this they survived. Today from original factory buildings little remains: only the foundations of some buildings, the remains of buildings and a portion of the tunnel through which water is supplied to the plant from Pertozero.
