Pushkin House Museum - one of the most famous sights of the city of Chisinau. This unique museum of its kind located in the building where Alexander Pushkin lived in exile from 1820 to 1823. The opening of the museum took place in Chisinau February 10, 1948.
It was here, in a wing of the house of a wealthy merchant and lived Naumov AS Pushkin during his stay in Bessarabia. This period in the poet's life was marked by the writing of the famous work "The Black Shawl", which was later translated into several languages and included in various pieces of music cycle "of Moldovan songs" message "Daughters Karadjordje". Beauty Moldavia inspired the great poet's work on the poem, which later became known as the "Prisoner of the Caucasus."
The decision to open a museum was made in 1946. Miraculously surviving mansion carefully restored, repair lasted two years. Thirty years after the opening of the house-museum of his need passed two old 19th century building, where the literary and historic halls.
Today, the house-museum of AS Pushkin - a unique treasure, which preserved the original certificate of the poet's life. The atmosphere in the rooms as close as possible to that which existed during the stay in the house of Pushkin, here you can see more than two hundred items. Special pride of the museum are the original books from the library of the poet. Attention has always attracted visitors and dueling pistol XIX century - from this shot himself in a duel Pushkin. Also in the museum kept a facsimile edition of the poet's work books, published under the patronage of the Prince of Wales. Total of fewer than a thousand books in the world, and two of them were transferred to the Republic of Moldova (the second copy is kept in the National Library).
