National Museum of History of Moldova was founded in 1983, located in the historical center of Chisinau. Is a museum in the former Regional Lyceum - the first gymnasium in Moldova. Before the museum is the famous statue of Latin wolf with Romulus and Remus - a replica of the monument, established in Rome.
The museum operates ten exhibition halls with permanent and temporary exhibitions. The permanent exhibition is located on the first floor and consists of more than 4 thousand. Exhibits that illustrate historical events, cultural life, traditional way of life of residents of Moldova. Date of exhibits - from the Paleolithic to the present day.
Of particular interest to visitors is the archaeological and numismatic collections, among which are such unique exhibits as the tip of the war chariot, bronze candlestick and the Goths helmet dating from 4-5 century BC, and the first detailed map of Moldova, made in 1781.
In total, the museum contains over 300,000 artifacts (including reservists and) collected throughout the country, more than 16 thousand. Of them are national property of Moldova.
