Hotel "Kazan farmstead" (Melnikov House), or the hotel "Kazan" in the Soviet period, in the heart of the city, on a pedestrian street Bauman. Large-scale building is in a state of reconstruction.

This building is considered to be an architectural masterpiece. Hotel project by architect Thomas Petondi was one of his last and most spectacular projects.

Melnikov bought a neighboring building owned by Colonel Vasily Strakhov. He commissioned the architect Thomas Petondi create a project. It was necessary to build a house is not for the family, and for the device to hotels and shops. Petondi restored damaged in a fire Melnikov House and included in the set of an adjacent building. The whole complex he combined total luxury decorated facade.

In 1850, the "house numbers" owned merchant IY Tikhonov. He expanded the hotel and upgraded interior trim and furnishings. In 1902, merchant and philanthropist P.Schetinkin bought another one, standing next corner building. Element facade with semi-rotunda dates from the late 19th century, the rest of the facade with a frieze and columns refers to a later time. All three sections of the facade are decorated with stucco garlands. Above the entrance to the balcony, which is supported by the Atlanteans (decorating Hotel Atlanta - only in Kazan).

It stayed in this hotel many famous people, including the poet Vladimir Mayakovsky in 1927, lived a few days in one of the hotel rooms.
