Kaliakra Reserve is located on the same promontory 12 kilometers to the southeast of Kavarna. He is one of the biggest attractions on the sea in mind the rich history and preserved pristine nature and spectacular panoramas.

The first information that inhabited these lands, appeared in the 4th century BC, when the area was inhabited by the Thracian tribe tirizov - hence the ancient name of the cape - Tirizis.
Later, the ramparts begun Thracians restored and created another line of defense. As a result, the settlement was divided into two parts - the outer and the inner city. The first wall could protect the fortress from the ground, but from her preserved only ruins (440 meters in length and two meters in height). At the site of the outer city archaeologists have found the remains of various buildings, such as bath, the tomb with a vaulted ceiling and a few churches in the Middle Ages.
The name Kaliakra (literally "beautiful cape") was first mentioned only in the 13-14 centuries. In the 14th century Kaliakra is not only the capital of the eastern part of Bulgaria, but also a major international port.
