Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary is a five-domed Orthodox white stone church, located on the old trade (currently Chervonoarmiiska) Square in the city of Arkhangelsk Oblast Kargopol. The church is characterized by miniaturization and elegance in comparison with other local churches. The temple looks very elegant due to its exquisite decoration.

Bogoroditsky-Christmas church is the earliest surviving buildings in Kargopol XVII century. It began to build in place of wood in 1678 (according to other sources in 1680) diligence Kargopol merchants Pometyaevyh Clement and Andrew, and in gratitude the brothers to the church were added to the north and south side-chapel of St. Clement and Andrew. Construction was completed in 1682. The bell tower was completed on the western side only in 1844 at the expense of merchants and Andrei Ivan Nasonov.

Kargopol only across the land (in the two current districts: Kargopol and Nyandoma) operated in the Soviet years the parish, thus he kept the continuity of traditions.

The church is rich in stone carving: diamonds, cloves, cushions decorated chapels, apse, porch.
