Church of the Nativity "in Kozhevniki" is on the way down the street Engels to Oka. Previously, the church stood in the old tanner, next to the Church of the Intercession "on the mountain." In 1797 the church was moved to the first general plan of the city, dating back to the year 1778 (architect - PR Nikitin). It also transferred many tanneries and factories. Therefore, the temple and received the name "in Kozhevniki."
Construction of the church led by the architect ID Yasnygina. In 1834 the temple instead of the former small meal built a new, more spacious. At the same time, and they built a three-tiered bell tower. Until 1880 it was a separate building, but then it was connected with the building of the church.
The temple has three altars. The main altar - the Nativity of Christ, two chapels - in honor of St. Zosima and Sabbatius of Solovki and in honor of the icon "Joy of All Who Sorrow." During the war, in 1941 the completion of the bell tower was destroyed, damaged the southern facades of the church.
