The first Church of the Assumption mentioned in 1685. Then it was made of wood and had six bells. Construction of the stone church began in 1754, it was consecrated May 4, 1762. In 1783 he painted the altar. In 1799, a three-tiered bell tower was built.

In pre-revolutionary times as the five-domed temple described. The heads were lukovichnoobraznymi; on each face of the octahedron, holding a central chapter housed images of saints. The bell tower was quadrangular. In its second tier on each side was at a heavily protruding portico, in the corners - for the Tuscan column.

Inside the church was painted and had a rich iconostasis. Especially revered in the temple of Our Lady of Korsun icon and an icon of St. Righteous Habakkuk. In an annexe to the temple located parochial school.

In 1936 the church was closed, its building housed sewing workshops. In 1960, the church recognized architectural monument of national importance. In 1968 it was restored and there were Kaluga restoration workshops.

November 25, 1998 Church of the Dormition of the Kaluga diocese gave a rather unfavorable light: five chapters were demolished, the interior was rebuilt. Restoration of the temple was started with the cleaning of the building and dismantling of internal partitions.

Now the Assumption Church are two side chapels in the name of St. Seraphim of Sarov and St. Nicholas. Restored bell tower, re-built five chapters, continued external and internal finishing.

Consecration of the church took place in 2004. Restored main chapel and consecrated to the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin. June 12, 2013 was the first service. Services are conducted in the chapels of St. Nicholas and St. Seraphim of Sarov.

In 2007, it opened a Sunday school for adults, valid video and audio collection and a library. The church operates a pilgrimage service that organizes trips to the holy sites of Russian believers.
