Atomic bombing of Hiroshima was made in the morning August 6th, 1945. The city has dropped a nuclear bomb with an affectionate nickname of "Little Boy", the "Baby" has destroyed about 166 thousand people. The purpose of nuclear air strikes on two Japanese cities in August 1945 was a task force Japan will sign the instrument of surrender in World War II. August 15, Japan announced its surrender, and an official document was signed on September 2 only.

Gembaku Dome in Hiroshima is one of the most famous monuments to the victims of the atomic bombing, and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is located near the Peace Memorial Park. The epicenter of the explosion in Hiroshima marked a modest plaque with a photo and text in Japanese and English.

Dome Gembaku known under the name "Atomic Dome", "Atomic Cathedral" and "Dome nuclear explosion." During the disaster the building, crowned with a dome in the form of a hemisphere and therefore resembles the cathedral, it was 160 meters from the epicenter of the bomb attack and miraculously survived - the only one of all the houses in the neighborhood. Some walls of the building collapsed, everything inside burned by fire, and the people there were killed.

This building was built in 1915, designed by Czech architect Jan Lettselya it was still rare in Japan European style. Before World War II the building was an exhibition hall of Chamber of Commerce of the city, and in wartime there is also housed some sectors of the administration.

When was the restoration of Hiroshima, decided to strengthen the building to prevent its further destruction, and keep as a reminder of the tragic events of August 6, 1945. Next to the "Nuclear cathedral" a memorial stone, near which you can always see bottles of drinking water in memory of those who have survived the time of the accident, but died after her thirst in the new nuclear hell.
