Carthusian Monastery located in the 2, 5 kilometers north-east of the center of Granada, among the bright green gardens. Despite the fact that the facade can be seen several architectural styles, Carthusian monastery still is a shining example of Spanish baroque architecture.

The decision to establish the monastery was made back in 1458. The very same construction began in 1506 after a great military leader at the time of Gonzalo de Cordoba has provided land for this purpose. Work on the construction of the monastery lasted for 300 years and ended in 1835. Unfortunately, the monastery has not been preserved in full, of the monastery complex has been destroyed. In 1836, part of the land belonging to the monastery, was sold to private individuals. In this regard, cells belonging to the monks were killed. There was also destroyed and the beautiful abbatial house.

The monastery consists of several parts, each of which affects the beauty and grandeur of execution. The main entrance, referring to the 16th century, in the style Plateresque. Refectory with semicircular arches, also dating from the 16th century, and the hall Apostles Peter and Paul painted pictures of Juan Sanchez Cotan. Sacristy, created in 1727, is decorated with a magnificent dome, painted in 1753 by the artist Thomas Ferrer, and the authorship of paintings Fry Francisco Morales. Of particular note is the church, whose construction project of Christopher de Vilchez lasted from the 16th to the early 18th century. Church choirs are divided crystal door, created by Jose Vazquez and decorated with inlays of ivory, wood, unique rocks, as well as silver and other precious metals. On the walls hang works by the artist Pedro Atanasio Bocanegra, telling about the life of the Virgin.
