Gomel Monastery of Saint Nicholas of Myra was founded in 1994.

In 1904 it was built the church of St. Nicholas. The temple was built with funds raised by the Board of Trustees formed officials Polesie railway. Among the donors were very famous people. The land on which the church was donated by famous philanthropist Gomel Duchess Irina Ivanovna Paskevich-Erivan. October 22, 1904 on the feast of Our Lady of Kazan icon of the new church was consecrated.

During World War II the Nazi occupiers opened all the churches of the city. Including opened and St. Nicholas Church. Since then, the church never closed, and in 1994 it was decided to open it in the monastery. Initially fraternal cells were wooden. The monastery organized a fraternal chorus.
