Lodge - the summer residence of Count Nikolai Rumyantsev. The house was built in 1820 by architect Ivan Petrovich Dyachkova. Interestingly, Rumyantsev himself had no interest in hunting and it is not known why the house was given this name.

Gomel for this house stuck another name "House of the Empire." The title is erroneous. The house was built in the classical style. The main facade is decorated in Doric style with six-columned portico and an outdoor terrace. The building is rectangular, one-storey, with a hipped roof. In the courtyard of a hunting lodge, a bronze bust of Alexander Pushkin.

After the death of Rumyantsev house inherit a family of nobles Kruszewski. It happened in the second half of the XIX century. Krushevsky lived in the hunting lodge until 1917. After the revolution met Extraordinary Commission and worked in the city of the first radio station.

In 1997 it was carried out thorough restoration of the Hunting lodge. It opened an exhibition of ancient and rare items of the first owner Count Rumyantsev. Lodge is a part of the Gomel palace and park ensemble.

Since 2009, the building is a museum of the history of Gomel. In total, the museum now has seven exhibition halls. Among them are presented: the office; canteen; a collection of paintings. Ninety percent of the exhibits were donated by residents of Gomel. They include antique furniture and paintings, a collection of antique clocks, tableware, antique toys, porcelain trinkets and other items interior.
