Uffizi - one of the most famous art galleries in the world. Here is a vast panorama of the various schools of painting. The building of the Uffizi Gallery was built by the architect Giorgio Vasari commissioned by the Medici family, and is primarily intended for administrative purposes. Beginning of the construction was in 1560 and ended 20 years later.

The building consists of two buildings with balconies on the ground floor. In the depths of the two buildings are connected by a third body with a huge arcade overlooking the Arno River embankment. At the bottom, on both sides of a central courtyard in the power pylons formed niches in which are placed the statues of the XIX century, depicting the famous figures of Tuscany. The second floor cut through huge windows, and the third is a vast loggia. In addition to the Art Gallery, which occupies the third floor, the building houses the State Archives, which holds the rare documents on the history of the city, as well as the Cabinet of drawings and prints, where a unique collection, which was launched in the XVII century on the initiative of Cardinal Leopold de 'Medici.

Since 1737 the museum has become property of the people, after Anna Maria Louis - the last representative of the Medici family - gave it to the city.

The museum's collection is located on the top floor of the building. Greek and Roman sculptures on display in the spacious corridors. Paintings hung in chronological order, allowing you to trace the development of Florentine art from the time of the Byzantine Empire to the High Renaissance and beyond.
