Hall of Delft - a historic building in the Renaissance style, which is located in the Market Square, in front of the new church.

The first town hall was built in Delft at the beginning of the XIII century, and it was located on the same spot, on the market square. Then Hall served not only as the seat of the city council, but a prison. This is where the assassin Silent Prince William of Orange - Balthasar Gerard. From this building to have survived the massive stone tower, which is now considered the oldest building in Delft. In 1536, at the Town Hall tower had a clock with four dials work Delft masters. Over the years, the town hall burned a few times, there was a huge fire in 1536, when the tower miraculously survived, but after a fire in 1618 it was decided to completely rebuild the town hall.

The new Town Hall was built by the famous Dutch architect Hendrik de Kaiser in just two years. On the old foundation it was built two-storey building in the style of the Renaissance. In the XVIII and XIX centuries it was carried out some renovation, but in the XX century restorers have tried to return the town hall its original form in which it was conceived Hendrick De Keyser.

Now it meets the city council, and conducted the civil marriage ceremony. In the halls of the town hall you can see portraits of the dynasty of Orange-Nassau, made one of the first Dutch portraitists Michiel Van Mireveltom. The facade is decorated with sculptures of Justice and one of the rooms - a fresco by Peter van Bronckhorst "Solomon's court."
