Hortobágy National Park, covering an area of ​​80 000 hectares, is the largest protected area in Hungary. One of the most amazing sights of the park is its "bird Fund": the park is home to over 300 species of birds, more than half of them nest here. Among the most notable bird park - cranes, bustards, herons, eagles Buzzard - a large part of the national park is their natural habitat.

  Hortobágy National Park - is not only a part of the Great Plains and the largest natural grassland in Europe, a territory belonging to the shepherds (more than 200 families live in the park), who preserved the traditional way of life. The unique landscape of Hortobágy is an example of harmonious coexistence of humans and nature - all the variety of flora and fauna of the area have been carefully preserved, and livestock is an integral part of the landscape.

  On the territory of the national park Hortobágy hosts a variety of events - competitions and festivals. Every year in June in the Park held "Festival horses", which attracts a large number of tourists and lovers of horses and is designed to preserve the ancient traditions of Hungarian culture.
