St. Bartholomew Church (Church of San Bartolomeu) is in the same area, which is part of the district of Coimbra. The church stands on the Rua dos Eshteyrosh, in the center of town, near the area of ​​Commerce. The temple is considered one of the oldest buildings in the city of Coimbra.

The temple was built in the X century and is dedicated to Saint Bartholomew, who was one of the twelve apostles of Jesus Christ and is mentioned in the New Testament. During the entire existence of the temple reconstruction work carried out twice: in the XII century and in the XVIII century. The facade of the church is crowned by a portal and two towers with bells at the corners of the roof. Just facade is decorated with an oval-shaped barred window, which is characteristic of the Baroque style.

Inside the one-nave church, the walls are decorated with paintings painted by the famous Italian artist Pascal Parente. Chapel attracts the eye and large altarpiece of the XVIII century, in the baroque style of wood and marble and decorated with gold leaf. The image of hanging a large painting depicting the suffering of St. Bartholomew, written by an Italian artist Pascal Parente. The altar of the XVI century in the style of Mannerism and decorated with paintings, which depict scenes of death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Initially, the church was built in the Romanesque style. The building we see today is the result of the restoration works of the XVIII century, when it was introduced many elements of Baroque.
