Stone fountain Samson fun spurting water is considered to be the main attraction of the central square of Ceske Budejovice, which is named after Premysl Otakar II. Fountain became the symbol of Ceske Budejovice, is present on the postcards and magnets and is known to every tourist visiting the city.

A place where now stands a fountain, previously held the Pillory. He served not only for demonstration killings, but he was a kind of decoration of the square. After the rapid development of the city in the XVI-XVII centuries magistrate attended supply of drinking water for local residents. For this purpose it was decided to build a large fountain, which would be considered at the same time water tank. Fountain moisture was supplied to several neighboring streets.

The design of the fountain designed by Frantisek Bogut of Yindrihova-Hradec.
