Cathedral of the Holy Trinity - the only Orthodox church in Buenos Aires. By the end of the 19th century lived in the city a large number of Orthodox Arabs, Romanians, Greeks and Slavs, who appealed to the Russian Emperor Alexander III asking for the construction of the temple. After a few years of parishioners on the national composition of the steel only Russian, as Arabs and Greeks built their congregations.
Initially, the temple took two rooms in a small house in the center of the city. Later there was built a separate Orthodox church designed by Argentine architect Alejandro Christophersen. The cathedral was designed in the style of Russian churches of the 17th century.
The building is two-storey: the first floor of the school is located, and the second - the church. Painting ceilings, columns, domes, arches and all the ornament was made by the artist from Italy - Matteo Casella. The temple has two side chapel - Mary Magdalene and St. Nicholas. The church is located close to the icon-painting "The Last Supper", "The Holy Trinity", "Transfiguration of Christ", "Universal saints" and others. A distinctive feature of the temple is a porcelain iconostasis and relics donated by the Athos elders.
In the early 20th century when the church was opened shop, a free reading room, an amateur choir, a shelter for the needy, cultural and educational circle.
