St. Anthony's Church - one of the few monuments remaining in Brest after a stay in Western Belarus Poles. The church was built in 1938 in the style of modern constructivism for military Polish garrison stationed in Brest. In our minds church and constructivism style - absolutely incompatible concepts, but in Catholic Europe in the middle of the XX century, in the modern style it was built many Catholic and Lutheran churches.
The patron of the church - St. Anthony of Padua - was elected by Poles for a reason. This saint was a long and difficult path, becoming a recognized speaker, teacher and patron of the Catholic Church for those who want to find the lost value. Poles believe that incorporated into the Russian Empire Brest lost its Catholic values. Moreover, the beginning of the XX century was marked by the collapse of moral values and the general decline of morality.
During World War II, the church of St. Anthony has been selected by German fascist invaders, and within its walls held Lutheran services for the German soldiers, so the temple is sometimes called the Lutheran Church.
After the liberation by Soviet troops in Brest, constructivist church of St. Anthony was closed and this religious building was transferred first to the needs of the national film industry (here opened House of Cinema), and then he bought some modern advertising company. The Government of the Republic of Belarus to return the church of the Catholic Church, unfortunately, is not going to.
