Palace Raju (his other name - Mexican house) was built during the reign of King João V, in the years 1774-1755 and is one of the most beautiful buildings in the city of Braga.
The construction project of the palace was designed by the architect André Soares, already known in Braga for its art projects commissioned by the influential and wealthy businessman Juan Duarte de Faria, who also has been a Knight of the Order of Christ. Presumably in 1867 the palace was sold to businessman Jose Miguel Raju, and after a while became known as the Palace Palace Raju. Later the building was transferred to the Order of Mercy, which is housed in the palace of individual rooms at St. Mark's.
As for architectural features, the palace in the style of the late Baroque. The Baroque style is reflected mainly in the structure of the building and decoration of the building is made in the Rococo style. A two-storey facade of the palace, with the exception of decoration of windows, is decorated with the famous azulejos tiles. The roof of the palace is decorated with a balustrade with pinnacles. On the ground floor, in addition to the main entrance, there are two side doors, painted in blue, to match the facades.
On the second floor balcony, which is located directly above the main entrance, decorated as a balustrade and two decorative sculptures. Flanking the windows on this floor have a less sophisticated style of decoration than the central window. Particular attention is attracted by the grand staircase inside with three bays, decorated with a sculpture of a Turk.
