Construction of the temple began in 1807 and was completed during the reign of King Rama III. Wihan of this temple is the highest in Bangkok and is famous for its paintings on the theme of Buddhist cosmology. Teak doors Wihan decorated with intricate carvings. Wihan located around 156 golden Buddha statues.

In the center of the temple is a eight-meter statue of the Buddha. This is one of the largest surviving bronze statues of the era of the kingdom Sukkhothay.

On the square in front of the temple stands tall frame red - Sauchingcha (Giant Swing). They were used at the ceremony thanks to Shiva for the rice harvest. Not far from the pole and swing set at the level of the bar swings secured bag with gold or silver coins. Brahmins, swinging on the giant swing (just like Shiva swinging in heaven) tried to grab a bag of coins. The ceremony often ends with the death of participants and has been banned in 30-ies).
