Wat Saket is also called the Temple of the Golden Mount - the golden chedi stands atop an artificial hill. Circular staircase with statues and tombstones leads to a small sanctuary. It offers a magnificent view of Bangkok.
This is one of the oldest temples of the city. It was built by King Rama I, and the first artificial mountain was sprinkled on at Rama III. Later, under King Rama V was poured 76-meter hill. The church kept the sacred relics brought by King Rama V in India.
