Notre-Dame-de-Dome is part of an architectural ensemble, which also includes the Papal Palace and the Pont d'Avignon. Located temple on top of a cliff in the northern part of Avignon, close to the Palais des Papes. This Catholic cathedral is recognized as a national monument of France and is under UNESCO protection.

The history of the cathedral until the end is unknown. According to some sources, it was built in the IV century, and later rebuilt in the Romanesque style and consecrated. On the other, the history of the Cathedral of Notre-Dame-De-house dates back to about 1150, and later, in the XIV-XVII centuries, the side chapels were completed. Such a long history of building and reconstruction of the cathedral and defined its unique mixed Provencal-Romanesque style. During the French Revolution, the church was closed and one of its dome was removed and melted down for armaments soldiers. However, in 1822 it was re-consecrated.

One of the features of this cathedral is that on its western tower mounted a huge statue of the Virgin Mary lead weight 4, 5 ton, covered with gold leaf.

In this temple, one of the greatest artists freskistov, a follower of the school of Siena, Simone Martini wrote, "the Virgin Mary surrounded by angels and blessed Christ."
