Museum of Cycladic Art Nicholas P. Goulandris - one of the biggest museums of Athens. It founded the museum in 1986 thanks to a private collection of Cycladic and Ancient Greek Art Goulandris family, one of the most wealthy and noble families in Greece.

Nicholas and Dolly Goulandris started his collection in 1960 to xx years with the permission of the Greek government. The collection quickly gained popularity among the scientists for its rare exhibits. For the first time the collection was exhibited at the Benaki Museum in 1978. In the years 1979-1983 the exposition was exhibited in major museums and galleries around the world. After the death of Nicholas Goulandris, his wife handed over the collection to the Greek government for the creation of the museum.

The main building of the museum is located in the center of Athens, built in 1985, designed by Greek architect Ioannis Vikelasa. Over time, the exposition of the museum has expanded thanks to donations from collectors and new acquisitions. In 1991, the museum acquired a new building - a neoclassical mansion Statatosa. From the main building it connects the indoor glass transition.

The main collection of the museum is divided into three main areas: the Cycladic culture, namely the early period of the Bronze Age, 3200-2000gg BC Cycladic marble figurines, statues are striking in their elegance, simplicity and perfection; Ancient Greek Art, 2nd millennium BC to the 4th century BC .; the art of ancient Cyprus from the Neolithic to the early Christian period, 4th millennium BC - 6th century BC This is one of the most complete collections of Cypriot antiquities in the world.

Museum of Cycladic Art was created to study and promotion of ancient cultures of the Aegean and Cyprus. On an ongoing basis seminars, lectures, museum participates in various projects and studies. Also, the museum holds permanent traveling exhibitions. In total, the museum presents more than 3,000 different artifacts.

Particular attention is paid to children. Created special programs and workshops, regularly hold seminars and interactive tours for children and their parents.
