Culture Museum of Astrakhan is located in a historic building dating back to the late XVIII century. The museum was opened in 1978, the year of the 150th anniversary of NG Chernyshevsky. It is noteworthy that originally functioned as a literary museum.
The museum building was rebuilt many times, but has not lost her attractiveness and looks like a typical house in the southern city - a wooden veranda, quiet courtyard. The year 2000 was a landmark for the museum - in connection with the completion and expansion of the exhibition materials concerning the cultural life of Astrakhan, the museum received a new status - Museum of Culture of Astrakhan.
The exhibition features materials related to literary, musical and theatrical heritage of the region, from the XVIII to XX century. In addition, it is possible to familiarize with the activities of prominent figures of Russia, whose names are in some way connected with Astrakhan. For example, in this city I was born and raised first Russian academician - VK Trediakovskii, fabulist II Chemnitzer. In addition, at different times in Astrakhan they lived and worked F. Chaliapin, N. Papayan V. Autograph, M. Maksakova. In the museum you can see household items, furniture, documents and photographs, paintings, theatrical sketches and mock-ups of the XIX century.
The museum regularly held creative meetings and evenings, organized art exhibitions. On the basis of the museum has been operating for over ten years literary studio of the Union of Russian Writers.
