Rubens House, opened in 1946, is one of the most popular museums in Belgium. Famous painter Peter Rubens Powell lived in his own house and studio, built in the Italian style, on the canal bank in Antwerp. Hospitable host took the talented Flemish painters, the French queen Marie de Medici, the Duke of Buckingham, and other famous people. Rubens was also an avid collector, who collected the most valuable paintings by Titian, Raphael, Eyck Jan baths, a large number of works by other artists, including his students.

After his death, it was left about 300 paintings, sculptures, coins, medals, precious stones, ivory figurines, as well as books and manuscripts. In 1939, the Rubens House in Antwerp was acquired by the administration and the public to visit the museum, furnished with original furniture of the XVII century. and the works of the great artist, has kept the spirit of the time.

The most interesting exhibits -stul Rubens with a gold inscription belonging to the Antwerp Guild of St. Luke. Living rooms are located on the second floor, connected by a small gallery with preserved black marble fireplace. The walls are decorated with paintings of the painter - "The Annunciation" and "Moorish King" as well as his teachers: Otto baths Veen, Korneliosa de Vos and Jan Wildens. Garden pavilion in the style of a small ancient temple, pictured in the painting master "Walk" in 1631, testifies to the high artistic taste and outstanding personality of Rubens.

The rich collection of the creative artist is in many museums from Aachen to Zurich.
