Numana - a coastal town near Ancona. In ancient times it was known as Humana. Legend has it that the founder of the city was the mythical Queen Pichenis - female giant, half of the body which had the shape of a snake, and which grew on the back of huge wings. She threw fireballs ashore, burning down the forest, and rose from the ashes of Humana, which in Latin means "man."

Numana is located in the heart of the Adriatic coast of Italy on the southern spur of Monte Conero. Almost 92% of the city is part of the Regional Park of "Monte Conero".

The old part of the city is often called the "Numan viola", because it lies on top of a cliff overlooking the sea, and is almost a continuation of another resort town - Sirolo. "Numana Bassa" also covers the area around the port. Beach top Numana includes two small coves - the so-called Spyaddzhola Beach. A lower Numana beach stretches to the south up to the village of Marcelli. The inner part of the city mostly hilly, and in the mouth of the river located Musoni wetlands immense ecological value.

Of the attractions Numana is called, first of all, the Temple of the Crucifixion (Santuario del Crocifisso) - it was built in 1968 on the site of another temple, the creation of which is credited with Pellegrino Tibaldi. Two district Numana - Marcelli and Taunus - is a tourist resort. The first is located 4 km from the city. This is the main seaside resort of the Riviera del Conero. The Taunus built many hotels and hotels of different levels.
