Monument to the Fallen in Ancona was created between 1927 and 1930 years by architect Guido Cirillo, but inaugurated only in 1932 during a visit to the city of Benito Mussolini. The event was timed to the 10th anniversary of the fascist revolution.
Circular memorial, situated on a high pedestal in the Piazza IV Novembre in the quarter passetto, dedicated to the memory of all who died in the First World War, in which Ancona suffered heavy losses, not only on the front lines, but also in the rear - a result of the bombing of the city of the Austro-Hungarian troops in 1915. The monument is built of stone and Istra is supported by eight Doric columns. The pedestal is decorated with images of swords and helmets - symbols of attack and defense.
