The Museum Center "Chukotka Heritage" in Anadyr is the central research and educational institution of the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug. The museum was founded in 2002 as a result of the compound of the Regional Local History Museum with the State Centre for the Protection and restoration of historical and cultural monuments of the Chukotka Autonomous District.

Formation of the museum's collection began in 1931 with the creation of the Bureau of Local History, one of the main problems which the organization of the museum district and the accumulation of collections. Today, the collections were fully reflect the historic, cultural and natural uniqueness of the region.

In 1935, in the city for the needs of the museum it was bought a small apartment house, built of local old resident Nikolayev paneling American schooner, which bore the name "Polar Star". In November 1935 the house was opened the first museum, the exhibition covers an area of ​​34 sq.m. After a while it became a center for the collection and preservation of movable monuments of historical and cultural heritage, as well as to promote knowledge of local history.

His 70-year anniversary of the museum met in the best Anadyr building, erected in 2005 in the latest philosophical and technical performance. The first floor of the Museum Center took virtual exposition hall that hosts "storefronts", which are intended to show the works of computer graphics, video art and design. The second floor of the museum center for temporary exhibitions. The largest exhibition space on the third floor - a hall of static display.

The funds of the museum center has more than 40 thousand. Pieces on different topics. The center consists of several departments: the historical, natural, ethnographic, literary, fine and decorative arts, scientific exposition and scientific and methodical, information technology, accounting and taxidermist laboratory.

The museum's collection includes photographs and documents, personal belongings and objects of traditional life, tools, works of fine and decorative arts, as well as other monuments of history, nature and culture, which cover the widest time periods.
