Archaeological Museum, known by the acronym MARQ, is located in the Spanish town of Alicante, in the square of Dr. Gomez Hive. The museum was opened in 1932 with the support of President Alcalá Zamora Niceto and originally occupied the first floor of a newly rebuilt Palace of Deputies. In 2000, the museum moved into the building of the hospital of San Juan. A significant contribution to the museum's collections have local archeologists Jose Lafuente Vidal and Francisco Figueras Pacheco.

Today it is one of the largest archaeological museums in the country, showing visitors a huge historical heritage of the Costa Blanca, represented 81 thousand exhibits. The museum has several rooms, each of which presented exposure correspond to specific time periods. So, there is a collection devoted to the Paleolithic era, the period of the Roman culture, the culture of Iberia, the Middle Ages and modern times.

The thing is that the museum is equipped with cutting-edge audio and video technology, thanks to which visitors can watch real, meticulously created by members of the museum historical subjects with the participation of the people and the use of real museum objects ,. Total scientists have created 18 such videos that are shown on huge screens.

In 2004 the museum was awarded the title of best European Museum of the Year.
