Epiphany Church was built in 1684-93 years at the expense of the Yaroslavl merchant Alexei Zubchaninov. Alex Zubchaninov traded leather and expensive varieties (yuftyu), belonged to the top of the trading town, was buried on the territory of the Spassky Monastery.

The Church of the Epiphany three altars. The main altar is dedicated to the feast of the Epiphany. In the southern aisle, who had previously served as a warm winter church altar was consecrated in honor of Vologda miracle-worker - the Rev. Dmitry Prilutsky and the north chapel was narrow and cramped and not meant for ordinary parish services. It is dedicated to the Last Judgment, which is a rarity for Orthodoxy.

By construction, this church is not like the other churches of Yaroslavl, as there are no internal pillars. The first impression of wall paintings is determined by three basic colors: golden ocher, blue-blue and dark cherry. Gold and blue give the solemnity of the interior and, thanks to sunlight penetrates into the temple through the large windows, the church looks very festive and elegant.

The walls of the temple are divided into eight tiers, painting them tells the story of the life and teachings of Christ. Four of the lower tier is devoted to the history of the earthly life of Christ. The top four tiers of murals broken windows into many separate compositions. The final scene of the Last Judgement are located only on the west wall.

The iconostasis of the church is made in the traditional Russian style. The iconostasis there are six tiers of icons and he completed a beautiful Crucifixion with figures coming. All structural parts are covered with baroque iconostasis carved in the form of a large vine.

Every year the Church of the Epiphany became the main church in Yaroslavl, because next to him on the river Kotorosl arranged a special hole for the blessing of the water.
