In 7-8 km from the city of Yalta, in the mountains, on the river Wuchang-Su is located one of the highest in the Crimean peninsula waterfall called Wuchang-Su. If translated into Russian, it means "flying water" or "falling water". The length of the river up to 8, 4 kilometers.
The river originates at an altitude of 800-900 meters on the steep slopes of Ai-Petri plateau. In the upper reaches it flows through a narrow gorge. After two kilometers from the source, at an altitude of 390 meters of the river forms a beautiful waterfall, which consists of four stages. The height of each step, respectively, is equal to 90, 15, 7, and 8 m. This thundering cascade of falling water between cliffs with the scent of pine resin.
All the beauty of the waterfall is opened during floods - in the spring, when there is melting snow on the Ai-Petri. Then the water flows with a crash falls off a ledge 100 meters, filling the air with brilliant splashes. It was at this point the waterfall can be called "flying", which justifies its name.
This waterfall is the source of water supply for Yalta. In summer, we can see a few small streams that run down the bustling cliffs. It happens that in the summer the river dries up altogether. During the period from 1938 to 1946 the river was no water nine times.
Another picturesque mountain stream - Yauzlar - found on the road leading to the Wuchang-Su. It also forms several beautiful and not very big, but not least, pretty waterfalls.
In winter, sometimes it happens that the waterfall freezes, and then he turns from a waterfall in the icefall. A hot summer, when you can see the waterfall dry plate playful: "The waterfall is not working."
