First place was close to its construction - the central street of the city of Xi'an, in 1384. During the reign of dynasties 5 Tower was the center of the city, but over the years the city grew and moved the geographical center of Xian. It is for this reason that in 1582 the tower shifted toward a kilometer east of the city. In the old days in the western corner of the building was a bell cast during the Tang Dynasty Jingyun, but according to urban legend, during the Ming dynasty bell for some reason stopped. Then the bell was cast in a modern, smaller and weighing 500 kg. The original bell, called "Jingyun", is in the Museum of Stone Forest Stella.
