Edward Elgar - British composer known late XIX - early XX century. He is best known for his orchestral works, but he also is the author of numerous oratorios, symphonies, chamber music, songs and instrumental concerts.
Edward Elgar was born near the town of Worcester, in the village of Lower Brodhit. Two years after his birth the family moved to Worcester Elgar, where his father was a music store.
Small village house became a museum in 1934, immediately after the death of the great composer. Elgar was very fond of this house, and throughout his life many times to come here and spend a lot of time here. Shortly before his death, he expressed the wish of his daughter that if in his honor will be arranged a memorial, let it be in the home Brodhite.
In the museum a unique collection of documents, manuscripts, photographs and personal belongings of the composer. On them you can trace the entire life Elgar, his childhood and youth, his marriage and family life, his travels and hobbies. Elgar traveled extensively in Europe, was in America. His favorite leisure activities were playing golf and biking.
