Vucedol is a typical monument of the Slavonian culture which refers to the period of the Late Neolithic (Eneolithic). The monument is located on the banks of the Drava river, five kilometers downstream (southbound) from Vukovar.

The Vučedol literally means "cleft valley." I found this place Josip Brunshmid, former director of the Archaeological Museum in Zagreb. In 1897 there were carried out the first excavation. In the course of excavations at Vučedol we found a large number of richly decorated pottery. Most of the finds dated to 3000-2600 years BC. e. One of the characteristic forms vuchedolskoy pottery was a form of a dove. Subsequently vuchedolskaya dove became the symbol of this place and the whole vučedol culture in general. This discovery belongs to 2800-2500 years BC. e. Today it is kept in the Archaeological Museum in Zagreb.

Other features of the local pottery is a contrast-depth (notched) pattern, which is filled with a paste of white color on a black background of the product.

Another finding is known ceramic bowl, on the assumption of scientists is an ancient calendar. These findings make the archaeologists due to the fact that the bowl marked four horizontal bands, divided into 12 fields. The Vučedol were also found copper products, such as axes and daggers.

In 2010, it opened in Vukovar Vučedol Archaeological Museum. Visitors to the museum can admire the hundreds of prehistoric artifacts.
