Church of St. Fosca - one of the many temples Vrsar, is a religious and architectural landmark.
Construction of the church had in the first half of the XVII century. The architectural style of the building - the Renaissance, but the architect was able to include in the overall look even elements of Baroque. The facade is Renaissance, but the doors that lead to the temple itself, seem to be very simple and unpretentious.
Initially, in the upper part of the building located two bells. One of them was made in the XVI century (the performer made the Venetian foundry), but was shot in the First World War. Later, the old bell was replaced by a new one, made in the XX century in the foundry Lapagna in Trieste, Italy. The second bell was made in 1680, it is decorated with pictures of faces of the Virgin Mary and St. Fosca, and crucified. As long as the Second World War, the Italians considered the most reasonable solution to remove both the bell, but not to use them for military purposes. Subsequently, the bells were returned to the Church, but they only had hung in the bell tower of the parish church of St. Martin.
Not so long ago in the church of St. Fosca underwent reconstruction work.
The interior of the church completes the picture "The Martyrdom of St. Fosca ', which dates back to the XVII century. No less interesting gravestones, decorated with texts in Latin and coats of arms of noble families.
