National Park of Hristo Botev is on top named Okolchitsa (altitude - 1048 m), which in Vratsa Balkan Mountain, near the village of Chelopek, about 20 km from the town of Vratsa. On Okolchitsa a monument dedicated to the heroism of the famous Bulgarian revolutionary Hristo Botev and his detachment of Representatives, those who gave their lives for the liberation of their country from the Ottoman domination.

Place the construction of the monument in 1901 identified by the Commission experts (among them 9 participants in the revolutionary insurrection). This place is available and is located very close to the site of the final battle of the revolutionary Hristo Botev detachment in 1876

The monument in the form of militias cross of iron and concrete installed in 1926. It was erected in the area Kolova Polana, the modern name - Botev field. In 1947, we decided to change the shape of a star with five ends, and in 1991 the monument to return to its original appearance.

At the base of the monument is a chapel named after St. George. This monument is included in the list of the hundred national tourist objects. The beautiful nature around this interesting sights and history of the area make this place very attractive for many tourists and visitors from this country or foreigners.

Every year in early June, at the foot of the monument is held nationwide worship, members of which are heads of the state and a large number of admirers of Botev. At this point it comes to an end and the national hiking through the steps of Botev detachment, which is called the "Kozloduy - Okolchitsa", which takes place continuously from 1946 to the present day.

The top Okolchitsa is a favorite hang-gliders from Bulgaria and from abroad, and just a nice place for a family holiday.
