Dragalevtsi Monastery is an active female Orthodox monastery, located three kilometers from the capital of Bulgaria, Sofia, at the foot of Vitosha Mountain. The main celebration of the monastery is the feast of the Assumption.

The monastery founded by King John-Alexander of Bulgaria in 1345. In the days of Ottoman rule was not destroyed, but was empty for some time. In XV-XVII centuries., As part of the so-called "Sofia the holy mountain" was a cultural and educational center of the country. In the XIX century dragalevtsi monastery participated in the national liberation struggle against the Ottoman invaders. Father Gennady, who at that time was abbot of the monastery, was the companion and associate of the famous Bulgarian revolutionary Vasil Levski.

In 1476 not far from the main building was built the cathedral monastery church (KATHOLIKON) - Church of Our Lady Vitoshko. The building is a naved basilica decorated with numerous frescos. At the end of the XVIII century, there have established the gilded carved iconostasis made of wood, which is of great artistic value. In 1932, the temple was added another church.

In the first half of the XX century there was built a few buildings monastic cells designed for a large number of nuns, but to date there live only two novices, three nuns and Mother Superior.
