The last two centuries Dukhovskoy Holy Monastery is a unique orthodox temple, located in Vilnius. The church was named in honor of the Descent of the Holy Spirit and the Apostles is the most important monument of architecture and history of Lithuania. It is located close to Dawn in the Old City. The Holy Temple keeps the imperishable relics of the great martyrs Eustace, John and Anthony.

As is known, in 1596 Union of Brest was concluded, which included the union of Poland and Lithuania into a single state. They fell on hard times for the Orthodox believers - closed all the churches in Vilnius, and Holy Trinity Monastery passed to Uniates.

In this situation, people are fiercely fought for the return of the Orthodox Church. Get permanent waivers, believers do not surrender, and in 1597 permission was granted by Sigismund III for the construction of a new Orthodox Church in front of Holy Trinity Monastery. The church is being built on land that belonged to Anne Dorofea and Theodora, and later it was transferred to the property of the brotherhood of the Holy Trinity. Since that time, the Brotherhood began to wear the name of Holy Dukhovskoy and were attached to the temple of the printing house, hospice and school. It is this church became a representative of the Orthodox faith in Vilnius.

Built at the temple consisted of several school classes. Specially for students it was published "The Slovenian grammar" and "Vocabulary". It is for them, learned more than one thousand people, and especially proud of the temple is considered to be the fact that the school engaged Mikhail Lomonosov.
