In 1905 the local Muslim population was decided to build a mosque. The local Imam Seid Burhan Husain carefully collected all the information regarding the number of Muslims who turned 73 people. The opening ceremony of the Tver grand mosque was held October 27, 1906, which coincided with the month of Ramadan. There have been a colorful liturgy, which took over the conduct of Bayazitov A. - akhun St. Petersburg and some other persons. The ceremony was attended by the governor of the city, the garrison commander and the mayor. In 1935 the Great Mosque was officially closed, and then in her building housed a variety of institutions, including even a restaurant. Despite this, the Muslim community continued to exist and ruled unofficial mullahs.

In 2006, he conducted the celebration of the 100th anniversary from the date of construction of the mosque, which was invited to the set of honorary citizens, including prominent members of the Muslim community in Yaroslavl, Novgorod, Vologda and many others. In 2008, repairs were started in the building of the mosque of Tver, and soon the building was given in the proper form.
