In Tver, there are not only the many churches of the Orthodox faith, but also the Muslim Councils. One of these churches is Tverskaya Mosque - Muslim prayer house.

In 1905 the local Muslim population was decided to build a mosque. The local Imam Seid Burhan Husain carefully collected all the information regarding the number of Muslims who turned 73 people. Also at the local craftsmen worked 150 Muslims, and in total, throughout the city need to build the mosque was tested about three hundred Muslims.

The need to collect the documents authorizing the construction involved Alyshev FI, who took full responsibility for carrying out construction works. Once the petition was submitted to the administration, he was immediately selected a site for a future mosque located on the opposite side of the district hospital, namely the street million. Once collected all the necessary documents, construction is already well underway, and in October 1906 the mosque was completely built.

The building of the mosque is made of model projects, drawn up in 1844, which corresponds to novomavritanskomu style .  The total length of the building was 12 meters, while its overall length is clearly underlined by means of dividing into six windows with horseshoe arches .  The mosque appears small, because it creates the impression of eight-pointed star-shaped window frames and eaves, decorated with elements of traditional local architecture .  In all corners of the roof are small domes, which are connected by means of a toothed comb, stretched around the perimeter .  From the north of the minaret is represented by a cylindrical tower, which reaches a height of almost 17 m; directly on the minaret is tall spire 4, 5 m .  Located at the northern volume roof is decorated with the help of a pattern, made in oriental style .  Stucco and elegantly decorated with window openings, although its appearance is subject to the full restoration .  The decor is actively used rustication - this alternation of horizontal multi-colored strips, in this case - red and white, which gives the whole external appearance is not only an incredible expressiveness, but the similarity with the building of the mosque, located in Potsdam and Vladikavkaz .  Designed for prayer room has plenty of space and a large gallery, located on the second floor .

Shortly after the start of construction, it was built a stone fence, equipped with metal sections that are connected by stone pillars.

The opening ceremony of the Tver grand mosque was held October 27, 1906, which coincided with the month of Ramadan. There have been a colorful liturgy, which took over the conduct of Bayazitov A. - akhun St. Petersburg and some other persons. The ceremony was attended by the governor of the city, the garrison commander and the mayor. In the course of action it was read a telegram, written on behalf of the Emperor Nicholas II (He donated quite a considerable sum). After congratulatory speeches were completed, followed by a gala dinner, during which many speakers took into account the need for future development of the brotherhood of the Orthodox and Muslim believers who live in the territory of Tver.

In 1935 the Great Mosque was officially closed, and then in her building housed a variety of institutions, including even a restaurant. Despite this, the Muslim community continued to exist and ruled unofficial mullahs.

In 2006, he conducted the celebration of the 100th anniversary from the date of construction of the mosque, which was invited to the set of honorary citizens, including prominent members of the Muslim community in Yaroslavl, Novgorod, Vologda and many others. In 2008, repairs were started in the building of the mosque of Tver, and soon the building was given in the proper form.
