A museum dedicated to the socialist art was opened in Sofia on 19 September 2011. It is a branch of the National Art Gallery of Bulgaria. Museum acted as the country's first store, where not only are going, he exploited the unique samples of Bulgarian art, created between 1944 and 1989. All the works share a common theme - the era of socialism.

The museum complex includes a video, an art gallery and a park of 7, 5 sq.km. In the park you can see the works of monumental sculpture in the amount of 77 pieces. For the most part, it busts and statues of famous Soviet and Bulgarian Communists - VI Lenin, Dimitrov, D. Blagoev, V. Kolarov, T. Zhivkov and other active politicians. Other sculptures represent the typical image of social realism farmers, partisans, workers and the Red Army.

Area private art gallery is 550 sq.m. Here are exhibited as exhibits 60 paintings and about 25 - works relating to the easel painting.

In the video hall demonstrated documentaries, which were filmed in the heyday of Bulgarian socialism. There is also a small shop where you can buy as souvenirs authentic items from the socialist era, or their modern counterparts.

Near the entrance to the museum park is a symbol of communism and socialism in the Republic of Bulgaria - the original kind of a red star, which in the period from 1964 to 1984 rose in the center of the House Party. Thus, the seat of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Bulgaria was a kind of a political symbol of the era in Sofia.

Of course the new museum building, and today it is part of the structures of the Ministry of Culture of Bulgaria, namely the folk ensemble of national importance "Philip Kutev" Institute of Architectural Heritage on a national scale, the company "Restoration", a division of an art gallery at the national level, and others.
